What the test checks

Three parts, one visit

A complete hearing test is much more than whether you hear a beep. It measures how well you hear at every pitch, the difference between what reaches your ear and what your inner ear actually picks up, and how clearly you understand speech. Together those three things show whether hearing loss is the problem, what kind it is, and what will help.

1

A look in your ears

First a check of your ear canals and eardrums for wax, irritation, or anything that needs a doctor. Sometimes the answer is as simple as wax, and you hear it from us before anything else.

2

Tones, through the air and the bone

You listen for the softest tones you can hear at each pitch, first through headphones and then through a small band behind the ear. Comparing the two tells us whether the loss is in the inner ear, which hearing aids help, or in the outer or middle ear, which may need medical attention first.

3

Words, not just tones

Speech recognition testing checks how clearly you understand words at a comfortable volume, and how well you follow speech with background noise. It is often the part that explains why conversations feel harder than the TV, and it tells us how much a hearing aid can give back.

What the results tell us. The test confirms the ear itself is the problem and rules out anything an ENT specialist should look at first. With no medical concerns in the way, your results give a clear diagnosis of your hearing loss, and that diagnosis is what a successful fitting is built on.

What it costs. One set price, with no office visit fee and no travel fee anywhere in our West Valley service area. If you move forward with hearing aids through us, the test is included. See current pricing.

Is it time?

Signs a hearing test is worth it

The TV keeps creeping louder. You ask people to repeat themselves, especially in restaurants. Phone calls take more effort than they used to. There is ringing in your ears, or someone who loves you has mentioned it. Any one of these is a good reason to check, and a hearing test is the only way to know for sure whether hearing loss is behind it.

Before and after

What to have ready, and what you take away

Before the visit

Have your insurance card handy, your current hearing aids if you have them, a list of your medications, and any notes about when hearing has been hard. We can do the test anywhere that is clean and quiet: your kitchen table, a living room, or a quiet room at your care community. We always recommend that family and friends join the conversation if they can.

Your results

You see a chart of the softest sounds you heard at each pitch, and Melissa walks you through what it means in everyday words.

What comes next

If hearing aids would help, we talk options and real prices, with no pressure. Every pair includes a 45-day trial with a 100% money-back guarantee. If they would not help, we tell you that too.

Good questions

Asked often, answered plainly

Does Medicare cover a hearing test?
It depends on your plan. Many Medicare Advantage plans include hearing benefits through a third-party administrator. Tell us your plan when you book and we help you check what it covers before the visit. If you pay on your own, the test is $50.
Is a test at home as thorough as one in a clinic?
Yes. It is the same complete diagnostic test a clinic runs: a look in your ears, air and bone conduction testing, and speech recognition. Melissa brings the full clinical setup with her.
Can a family member sit in?
Please do. A second set of ears helps with the conversation about results and options, and family often notices hearing changes before anyone else does.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No referral is needed. Call, text, or book online. If the visit turns up something a physician should look at, we tell you plainly and point you in the right direction.
Where in the house do we do the test?
Anywhere clean and quiet works: the kitchen table, a living room, or a quiet room at your care community. Melissa brings everything else. We always recommend that family and friends join the conversation if they can.
